My friend told me that the AKG K240DFs are so flat that your mixes will actually sound really crappy on them, which is a good thing. Its what I wanted. To be able to hear the true sound.
Well in my friends studio, his room is completely covered in Sonix foam and is dead as a door nail. My demos sounded fine on his speakers but why is everything so bright on the K240DFs? Do I have to break them in or something?
Any info would be VERY much appreciated. According to my new headphones, it sounds like I&#39ll need to cut away some high end where as before when I was mixing on the old AKG K240s and my Mackie HR824 monitors, everything sounded mudier.

We did not change the design and sound characteristics of our K 240 DF over the years.
However one effect happens over a longer time period of using the headphones, the earpads are changing their shape a little bit, they are adapting to the shape of ears and head. this can alter the sound and therefore it is a good idea to change them from time to time.
Please let us know, whether changing the pads did help with your problem. If not, we can offer you to make a measurement of your headphones, to find out the reason for the different sound.&lt>kind regards
