Thanks for clicking through!
I owned a pair of gorgeously maintained K240 MP Sextetts, when all of a sudden, the right driver started rattling on bass frequencies.
This made me really sad, and I wanted to relive the glory days of these cans. So, I sent them off to AKG for repair, and while they didn't have the Sextett drivers, the technician called me (I requested they call before they do anything), and said that he could put in AKG K240 DF drivers (600 Ohm), in place of the defective drivers.
I got them back recently and I'm really digging the sound. Not quite like the Sextett, but if you search for DF impressions, you'll get an idea of what they sound like. These are straight from the repair shop, so, they have been looked at by an AKG tech no more than 3-4 weeks ago. He said they were in great condition. The six passive drivers are fully intact (not always the case with these old Sextetts).
Reason for selling: I am the ecstatic owner of the awesome (and easier to drive) AKG K401s, and I feel like these aren't getting the headtime they deserve. If I can get these to an owner who will use them, it beats them sitting around my house.
If there's interested, I'd be looking to sell them in the 130-155$ USD shipped CONUS (open to offers/trades, of course!). Here's my justification:
125$ (original price I bought it for)
+ 60$ repair
+ 10$ shipping from AKG to me
+ 10$ shipping from me to you

I have for sale a set of AKG Sextetts that have had the original drivers replaced with the DF drivers. It has been recabled with dual-entry cable and does sound quite good. It is in average condition, with one of the metal foils that cover the driver access screw being slightly wrinkled from when the phones were recabled. There is also a very slight crack in the edge of the headband near the earcups. Neither of the above flaws in any way detracts from the sound. It is well-balanced tonally and does not lack at all in the lower registers.
I received them in the present condition and have done no mods on them. I was curious as to what the DF/Sextett combination would sound like, but have too many other phones that get my main usage.
I will sell these for $85.00 which includes CONUS shipping and paypal fees. I don't have a picture of them, but they look identical to the Sextetts except for the dual-entry cable.

I have for sale a hybrid K 240 DF in mid-production Sextett housing. I recently purchased these phones to satisfy my curiousity as I liked the sound of both the DF and the Sextetts. As I have more phones than I can use with my current equipment, I will put these back on the market.
The Sextett headband and bass passive drivers all look to be in excellent shape wiith no broken plastic adjustment buttons.
They have been recabled with about an 8' run of what appears to be quite good cable, abeit a little stiff. As the cables are dual-entry, it would be a very easy task to terminate them with a balanced connector.
The sound is well-balanced with a very nice solid bass. I would say that the SQ is on the warm side, unlike my K-501s. Overall condition is quite good except for the K250 foil that covers the right side of the headband clamp. It has some small wrinkles from when it was removed, apparently during the driver change. I was told by the seller that the driver conversion was done by AKG.
The pads are in excellent condition, still very resilient.
Price is $145 which includes paypal and shipping to CONUS location. I would consider trading for a Sophia Princess 274B rectifier tube.
