最近看了一下REALISTIC PRO这个系列的耳机资料，还是很有意思的。
它是美国Radio Shack的耳机品牌，出了一系列的产品。比较有名的是PRO30那款，而好声的则是PRO50这款。

Realistic Pro-30 - Overview
The Pro 30 was the only orthodynamic headphone sold by Radio Shack in the US. This model appeared in Radio Shack's catalogs from 1981 through 1986 and was sold exclusively in Radio Shack stores starting at $39.95. It was probably manufactured for Radio Shack by Audio-Technica (or a company that was an OEM manufacturer for Audio-Technica). The drivers in Pro-30 look to be the same as Audio-Technica ATH-2 drivers. The Pro 30 frame (aka chassis or headset) is plain but comfortable and, like the ATH-2, the Pro 30 has easily detachable earpieces, which makes modification very easy. With a bit of simple modification the Pro-30 can sound very good.
The Pro 30 has one mechanical weak point: the yokes that hold the earpieces are fragile and can break if the headphone is dropped.

Pro 30 is bassy with rolled off high frequencies in its stock form. The sound is very forward and there is almost no soundstage. With some modifications (damping and gluing the driver to the baffle) transient response can be improved as well as the frequency response. The annoying forwardness, lack of soundstage and nasal coloration are however impossible to get rid off. In my opinion there are much better orthodynamic headphones in the $40-$70 price range that Pro 30 seems to be selling for at the moment.

Agreed that there's not much special in the stock Pro 30. I wouldn't call it bassy, since the mids are elevated and the top end is weak and the underdamped bass removes bass impact. It's smooth and listenable but blah, just like most unmodified isodynamics. The Fostex T40 particularly comes to mind.
While damping its driver and its vents transforms the Pro 30, the simple mod described below leaves it with a smoothly elevated ("shelved") top end-- perfect for a video production headphone but some people may not like it. "Very forward"? "nasal"? "impossible"? well, not in my opinion, but I can see where it would bother some folks.
This shelved treble response, similar to the sound of Sennheiser's classic MD 421 microphone, is the result of a damping compromise made necessary by the Pro 30's solid, reflective back. Damp less and the bass rises and treble recedes, but transient response suffers. Damp more and bass disappears. This compromise can be circumvented by removing the solid back of the headphone, a nonreversible modification which was carried out by Head-Fi members JadeEast and ericj in October 2007.
Note that it's not necessary to glue the driver to the baffle. There's an elastomer gasket and the baffle's clamps hold the driver very tightly. The Pro 30 is the only ortho/iso headphone I've seen (aside from the Fostex models with screw-down clamps and the Yamaha YHD-3 and its variants) that takes such good care of this important detail.
For a long time, even after the auction prices of Yamaha Orthodynamics shot out of sight, Pro 30s were available for $15 or less, but recently the supply has dried up with the inevitable result. It remains the least expensive way to get an introduction to isodynamic sound without resorting to DIY.

Here is an example of Pro 30 modification by Wualta
This is a sequence showing the disassembly of my original Pro 30, highlighting the damping pads I added and the original foam pads and how they work together. I'm assuming you already know why the driver and vents need a layer of damping. The Pro 30 is factory damped but it's simply not enough to bring the driver to a flat response.
Everything's pretty squashed after being inside for 20+ years; the foam and felt have both molded themselves to the inside of the cup.
Much better mechanical design than the Yamahas, as you'll see. There are 3 decent-sized rustproof screws holding the cup halves (earcup and driver cup) together. As usual, the screw heads are hidden underneath the outer circumference of the earpads, which do not have to be removed to gain access. The sequence begins with the earcup facing down and the driver cup (the part with the aluminum cap) lifted off.
The aim of this mod, as with all my mods, was to improve the sound but to be completely reversible. For example, the large factory foam disc could have its center cut out so it could be dedicated to the task of keeping pressure on the vent damping ring, but I wanted to keep everything as it was so modders would have the option of going back to stock.
The felt used is the cheapest acrylic craft felt you'd find for around a dollar a square foot at a fabric store. Don't be tempted to use denser, "better" felt.

REALISTIC PRO-50算是AKG为Radioshack代工的产品，这款用了SEXTETT的单元和辐射器，但是头戴和横梁则有K340的风格，外观确实很精致大气。后来AKG自己打标识销售的产品则是K250，不过单元已经是纤维质的调音孔了，而非无源辐射器的结构。
The Realistic Pro 50 is a headphone made by AKG for Radioshack, which was also sold as the AKG K250 (although there are construction and driver differences between the RP50 and K250). This particular pair uses K240 Sextett drivers & radiators, and the elastics/pads are still in very good condition.
